Lights over Te Awahou in Foxton is a fantastic opportunity to gather with whānau (family) and friends to enjoy a night of delicious food, live music, and stunning light projections. The park will be adorned with spectacular light projections, creating a magical ambiance that complements the festive spirit of Matariki.

Matariki ki Ōtauru

The township of Shannon will come alive with festivities to honour Matariki, which falls on the Matariki public holiday. This event is perfect for families, featuring a variety of entertainment and activities that cater to all ages. Expect live music and performances, engaging games, and a plethora of food and market stalls. This celebration provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the community spirit and diverse offerings from local vendors. It’s a day of fun and festivity that captures the essence of the Māori New Year.

Taitoko Night Market

The Taitoko Night Market is a vibrant celebration that brings together culture and community in a lively setting. This market is not just about shopping; it’s a full cultural experience. 

Explore an array of market stalls selling Te Ao Māori inspired kai (food), crafts, and jewellery. The event also features live music and a poi making workshop, providing interactive fun for all ages.
